I was trained as a psycho-dynamic counsellor but would now describe myself as integrative, drawing on many elements including Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) and Person Centred theories. My training has also included short term focused work, couples therapy and bereavement counselling. In 2002 I completed an intense course in the varied aspects of eating disorders culminating in an MA. My final paper, which was published, reported on a research project with recovered anorexics and bulimics and the services which they would have liked to have been available when they were ill.

For the past five years I have worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Hertfordshire on all aspects of disordered eating. I was recently quoted extensively in an article in ‘The Times’ on the problem of binge-eating.
