My name is Sharon Rother. I qualified as a counsellor in 1994 and have worked in private practice continuously for the past fourteen years. I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.

I first entered the therapy world over twenty years ago when I worked as a telephone counsellor at ChildLine for three years. However, these calls were isolated and I felt that I would like to work with people on a more continuous basis. So began my training as a face to face counsellor.

I believe that counselling can be an enriching and life-changing experience, whatever issues are involved, and I welcome clients from all walks of life. Sometimes there are specific issues that we find we cannot grapple with alone; counselling can help us to come to terms with these difficult life events. Often there is a feeling that although life is continuing around us, we cannot find our own way through the mire or there is a sense of just not functioning as well as we could. Counselling can help to make sense of this confusion and find a positive path back to a more stable and happier frame of mind.

I work with both individuals and couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

Appointments are available during the day or the evening and appointments last 50 minutes.

If you decide that seeing a counsellor would benefit you, we would make an initial appointment that is mutually convenient so that we can meet to discuss your problems and to give you an opportunity to experience how I work. I usually see clients once a week (although this could be more often), so it is important to find an appointment time that is suitable for you.
